Memorable rabbits Part 24 Nigi chan

11/1/26
If I were to list the rabbits that left a lasting impression on me, Nigi-chan would naturally be included—or so one might think—yet, strangely enough, my memory of this particular rabbit is remarkably faint.
I think the reason he doesn’t hold many strong memories is that Nigi-chan was a healthy rabbit.
Nigi-chan was a rabbit with a face shaped like an onigiri (rice ball).
You would think that seeing such a striking face just once would make it impossible to forget, wouldn't you?
If you looked closely, those round, dark eyes—often blending into the black fur—were actually quite cute; from a distance, however, that face looked like nothing so much as a rice ball.
Although Nigi-chan was always with a partner, he never fawned over people, so he didn't strike me as the bubbly, outgoing type of rabbit.
Nigi-chan was also known as the rabbit who vanished—possibly having died—after being relentlessly chased out of the territory by Necky, a rabbit featured in "Memorable Rabbits: Part 2."
I did not witness the conflict between the two, so I do not know the exact outcome; however, what often happens—as seen in animal groups like those of lions—is that an aging leader is driven out by a younger rival.
A similar phenomenon may exist within rabbit society, but I honestly cannot shake a sense of mixed feelings about the fact that feral domestic rabbits are forced to live like true wild animals.
